Farmer Jonathan

After helping Mike plant our herb garden, Jonathan now considers himself "such a good farmer". He helps me water the plants and flowers at night and always comments on how they are growing. Sunday he was invited over to Nana and Papa's house to help plant the garden. The process started days/weeks before getting the garden planned out and ready to plant. The made a special trip to Home Depot, complete with a hot dog and "just ketchup", to pick up some of the plants.

Jonathan has his own set of gardening tools at my parents, and I think he pulls them out almost every time we go over there. So he had his rake, hoe, and shovel all lined up with Papa's. He even wore a farmer hat just like Papa.

He had a great time digging, raking, hoeing, planting, and watering the garden. Aunt Sarah even joined in the festivities and Jonathan was sure to follow right behind her "helping".

I am excited, they have a lot of new and different varieties of the classics we all love. Can't wait for it all to start growing. I am secretly hoping the have an abundance and I will have enough to can a few items.

I would say the day was a success. Jonathan was filthy dirty, he had to shower before we could even head home. He was asleep by the time we drove by the high school. 2 minutes from my parents house. I could probably judge how much fun he has had by how long it takes him to fall asleep after we leave. We rarely make it 5 minutes down the road.
